Basic information for setting up Wikis

Writing for the Web

Check out these external online services to supplement your wiki experience. You will have to sign up for an account for most of these services, but they all provide free account options.

  • YouTube is the gold standard for video sharing. Embed other people's videos or upload your or your students' videos to display on your wiki.
  • StatCounter keeps track of your website visitors and displays this information on maps, in graphs, and in website counters (see the number at the bottom of the left sidebar menu). You can track traffic on an infinite number of projects for free, but logs only keep data for the most recent 500 visitors (you can upgrade for a fee).
  • SurveyGizmo and Zoho Polls allow you to create online polls for your visitors.
  • Google docs is a website that allows you to create documents and spreadsheets that you can display in your wiki. (You need to create a google account if you don't already have one.)
